If I see one more post saying Hollstein is abusive I’m going to scream.
I could get into how a lot of that talk comes from people who hardcore ship other wlw ships where members of that ship have betrayed/been violent towards the other, but I don’t like the attitude of tearing down other show ships in order to boost up my own.
But, to say Laura and Carmilla have an abusive relationship? It just shows such a lack of understanding of how good they are together.
Did they both do some fucked up things in s2? Yes they did. Carmilla grabbing at Laura and Laura starving Carmilla were both OOC actions done to create drama that was already established and didn’t need to be shown in such cruel ways.
But that does not make their relationship abusive. They have one of the best developed relationships I’ve seen in the media and coupled with Natasha and Elise’s natural chemistry they’ve become one of my OTPs. They have a deep love for each other and they are each other’s best friends. To try and vilify that…I can’t comprehend that.
I also just saw the analogy that liking Hollstein because they’re hot is the same as thinking Johnny Depp is hot so you don’t care what he did to Amber. Which is actually fucking disgusting and has made me incredibly angry. Equating idiots who support Johnny Depp despite him actually being an abusive asshole in real life to people who ship a fictional couple who aren’t in an abusive relationship is the grossest way to try and shut down an opinion.
You don’t like Hollstein? Fine. But, fuck don’t you dare compare it to people supporting an actual abuser. I just had to unfollow some people because of that.
