The only problem with writing same sex stories is that sometimes, one person can accidentally sound super flexible.
Example: “Carmilla brushed her nose over her ear.” Are we nosing at Laura, or does Carmilla have a fantastically flexible nose? This is an easy fix! Basically the subject of the sentence, in this case Carmilla, gets the pronouns, where Laura should be referred to by name.
But, agreed, the extra pronouns can make for hilarity.
Oh okay! I’ll remember that! Thank you so much :D
(They never covered this in my English class haha)Honestly, I”m not surprised. I never learned it either. All the language examples I remember from school were, unsurprisingly, very hetero. It took an awesome editor at my publisher (who specializes in wlw stuff - hollllla @ylvapublishing) to explain this to me in a way that made sense.
